Compelling crime fiction from the heart of the Highlands

A Book at Bedtime

This week’s favourite is ‘The Dead House’ by Harry Bingham, whose Fiona Griffiths series features one of the most complex and compelling female coppers I’ve ever come across.  If you haven’t yet done so, can I heartily recommend you enter her strange but fascinating world?

The Dead House: Fiona Griffiths Crime Thriller (Book 5) (Fiona Griffiths Crime Thriller Series) by [Bingham, Harry]

Or whenever I’ve got a bit of free time.  On my current reading list are:

Sandlands, by Rosy Thornton

A beautifully crafted selection of short stories set in coastal Suffolk, many with a supernatural twist.  Superbly atmospheric.

Falling Suns, by J A Corrigan

An intriguing debut novel from this writer of dark psychological suspense. How far would you go to avenge your murdered child?

Fell, by Jenn Ashworth

Haunting and disturbing by turns, Jenn Ashworth’s novel is a beautiful and complex work.
